Cory consistently up front in Shannonville!

August 13, 2008 – Canadian pilot Cory Cacciavillani had a busy few weeks to start off the month of August with events throughout Ontario. The talented junior pilot could be seen at the Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship as well as the Sunparlour Kart Club as he took home four podium results in six feature events.

Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship

Cacciavillani didn’t have a lot of time to roam the Shannonville Motorsports Park paddock as the Windsor, Ontario resident competed in four classes over the five day event. First on the docket was the Junior Pro class where Cory qualified his machine in sixth. Looking to advance forward in the pre-final, Cacciavillani advanced to P4 setting up on outside second row starting position for the main event. With the goal of victory, Cory moved into the second position and made a bid for the lead on the last lap only to get shuffled out of line and drop back to finish in the fifth position.

Next on schedule was Junior Medium where Cory was blistering fast throughout the two days of testing. Looking to continue the momentum, Cory qualified on the pole position with a solid 41.094 lap. The pre- final would force Cory to settle for second on track but in the post race technical inspection he was awarded the victory after the winner was deemed to be illegal. As the green flag flew for the start of the final Cory took the lead and looked to be in great shape before falling victim to the draft to be relegated back to the third position when the checkered flag flew.

The fastest class of the weekend would be up next Cory as he would do battle with a host of quick Rotax Junior drivers. After qualifying 15th, Cacciavillani moved forward one position in the pre-final to finish 14th and another four in the final to claim a solid tenth place result.

Looking to round out the weekend in fine form, Cory would take part in the Junior Heavy class. After qualifying fifth with no help from the draft, Cory was very optimistic about his chances of victory. The draft would become a major player in the pre final as Cory would fell victim to it as he spiraled down the running order to come home ninth. Regrouping in the pits, Cory entered the final with renewed focus and worked with his fellow competitors to advance forward and claim the third and final podium position.

Sunparlour Kart Club

Heading back to his home facility, Cory would compete in his normal two classes at the Sunparlour Kart Club on the August 8 - 10 weekend. Utilizing the pea pick format, qualifying would not happen as competitors would run heat races with inverted starting positions to set up the main event lineup.

Junior Heavy would be first on the schedule as Cory progressed through the heat races nicely. The up and coming racer finished third in heat one and was the victor in heat two to give him the pole position for the main event. On the start of the final, the second place competitor would make contact with Cory ending his day early.

Looking for redemption in Rotax Junior, Cacciavillani finished third and second respectively to score another front row starting position. Heading to the grid, the skies opened and Cory and his crew were forced to switch to over to a rain setup. As any great driver can do, Cory adapted to the conditions nicely and drove to a solid second place result in the main event.

Cory would like to thank his current sponsors and supporters for a successful 2008 season to date: CF Group, CFRacing.ca as well as his friends and family.
