Cory Jumps to an Early Points Lead

May 14, 2008 – Looking to continue the success at the Sunparlor Kart Club, young and talented Cory Cacciavillani claimed two podium results including a victory in the ultra competitive Rotax Junior class. Racing at his home circuit of Pointe Pelee Karting in Leamington, Ontario, Cacciavillani steered two different brands of karts to the front of the pack.

With a pill draw to determine heat race starting positions, Cory drew a number that would see him start his first Junior Heavy heat race from the tail of the field. Showing poise and aggression when needed, the Canadian pilot sliced and diced his way through the field to claim a second place result. Proving that it was no fluke and with an inverted starting order for heat two, Cacciavillani cruised to the victory to claim a front row starting position for the feature race. As the green flag flew, Cory battled hard with the lead group but ran out of time as he crossed the stripe in P2.

Redemption would come in the Rotax Junior class as Cory was the man to beat. After taking a heat race win in the first round of action and a third place result in heat two after contact sent him spinning through the grass, Cory would battle hard in the final to the checkers and stand atop the podium again early in the ’08 season.

Cory will now look to take his experience to the regional level as he begins preparation for the second round of the Brian Stewart Racking Kart Championship on May 30 – June 1, 2008 at Point Pelee Karting.
